'Sustainability-Assessment of Development phases of Chemical Processes'

18.08.2008 - HR/TBr

While Sabento was developed for the assessment of the sustainability of biotech-processes, ifu Hamburg is launching a similar project this month, which aims at the development of chemical processes.

The new software tool is designed for support of quantification of expected environmental and economical impacts in the planning phases of process development of chemical syntheses and to make external knowledge of experts redundant. The target of the project is the development of a prototype of the software, which helps the user to find the optimal process in an economic way. Both processes in early phases of development and established processes can be modeled and assessed.

The project is funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) in its focus on Sustainable Chemistry. For more detailed information, visit this DBU-page.

The end of this project, carried out in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven (OOW), will be in August 2011.
